Wow!This book exceeded all expectations and I highly recommend it for fans of YA Fantasy and YA Romance. SeQuence was a phenomenal fantasy romance that takes the reader on an epic journey. The writing was excellent and the world-building was even better!
Our heroine, Alessia, suffers from a strange malady -- voices in her head that are only silenced by water. Through her dramatic escape, she finds herself in another world... and answers that she didn't know she was looking for.
It was amazing exploring this strange new world along with Alessia, our curious and very endearing heroine. While the book occasionally had a tendency to move somewhat slow and drag in places, it lent itself to the leisurely pace of the lifestyle on their world. It also gave Alessia time to discover more about the world, herself, and her feelings for Dante.
The romance in this book was phenomenal. Although it was initially a bit of an instant attraction sort of thing, the whole romance was very slow to build and very sweet. We had lots and lots of those fantastic tingles! I would have liked to have seen more interactions and explanations into certain things between the two lovebirds, but I'm hoping we'll discover more in the second book. I have lots of questions about things that happened in the first book that were resolved... but we're not quite sure how. Maybe we'll find out in the second book.
It wasn't until close to the ending of the book that certain things were revealed to us and the plot became much stronger. Without giving away any spoilers... Alessia's presence in this new oceanic world has changed things. For everyone.
I'm interested in seeing how things will develop in the series in the future -- both in the romance between Alessia and Dante, but also how Alessia will further adapt to being in this world. It seems both of them will play an integral part of the next SeQuence of the game. I can't wait to read more!

SeQuence A Young Adult Fantasy Romance The Heart of the Ocean Series Book 1 eBook Lorraine MLM Reviews
I did enjoy this novel by M.L.M. Lorraine. YA Romance is not my genre of choice, but as this was recommended to me, I thought I'd give it a go. It is a well written, fun to read novel. interesting characters and interesting premise. The plot changes POV multiple time which I think is great, helping to see the story progress through the eyes of Dante etc. Love the ideas of the world below the ocean. All in all, a great first book. Well done to the author.
I received a free copy for an honest review. I really liked the book and the only thing that is stopping me from giving it five stars is because in the beginning, I was just as baffled as Alessia as to what was going on. That's not strictly a negative thing, I must add. It put you in the mindset of Alessia straight away and you only found out the answers as she did which makes you feel as if you're living it from her point of view for real. I was just a bit impatient to find out what was going on. I loved the intense attraction, and later on love, between Alessia and Dante. It wasn't love at first sight per se, but rather they both knew that they were a big part of each other's life the moment they laid eyes on each other. Reading about them falling in love with each other, even though it took "some" people longer than necessary to do the right thing, was an emotional roller coaster and I became enamored with them as well. The world that is created within the pages is breathtaking as well. It's the best blend of science fiction and fantasy and I can't wait to read more of it. I would encourage anyone to read it.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.
WOW.. I loved this YA fantasy novel. I was pulled in from the first chapter and didn't want to put it down. I loved the characters and the journey they went on. The author paints a wonderful picture of a new world and makes you feel like you are there with the characters. I definitely recommend.
Overall At times, I felt the pace of the book lagged, but for the most part, I was interested enough to read all the way through. I loved the way the concept of destiny was explored in this book. The world under the sea was enjoyable, but sometimes too saccharine for my taste.
Writing I felt the writing was solidly good. The descriptions of places allowed me to visualize things pretty easily. Dialogue was occasionally clunky, but more often just fine. The prose never got in the way of the story.
Plot The plot moved forward at a decent pace, but not much happened until close to the end. This is the part where I really wanted more. The set-up was great, but then things fell short. At times, things could have been clearer. The main character is in the dark for much of the beginning of the book and after a while I found this tiresome.
Characters The main characters were likeable and well fleshed out, as were some of the side characters. (loved the grandmother) I was immediately put off by the unrealistic, shallow dismissiveness of the first doctor we encounter, but things got better from there. I adored Dante, the love interest. That being said, the love story lacked tension and for that reason, I found it less than satisfying. The lovers fell in love so quickly and totally that there was almost no reason to read on.
World building Richly imagined and well written. It wasn’t all dumped on us at once, but revealed slowly throughout the book. Parts of this world were still a little unclear at the end of the book, which leaves room for more discovery in the next books. If possible I’d give this book a 3.5 but the world building nudged my rating to a 4.
Recommendation If you like YA fantasy with lots of world building that centers on romance (as opposed to action), then this book is for you.
